Hanson Heads Billboard Online Fan Favorites
Hanson issued the top album and single of 1997, according to the results of the Billboard
Online Fan Favorites Poll. "Middle Of Nowhere" squeaked by the Wallflowers' "Bringing
Down The Horse" for best album of the year in the poll conducted exclusively on this Web
site. Fans were asked to pick their favorites from among the top 20 titles on The Billboard
200 and Hot 100 Singles charts, as well as the top 10 titles on the Country and R&B
albums charts. The Hanson brothers received 32.7% of the 432,321 votes on The
Billboard 200 vs. the Wallflowers' 32.22%; "Mmmbop," on the other hand, skated past
Elton John's "Candle In The Wind 1997/Something About The Way You Look Tonight"
for top single, 38.99% vs. 31.29 %, with 323,667 people casting a ballot. George Strait
took the country album category with "Carrying Your Love With Me" (43.27%), while
Reba McEntire garnered second place with "What If It's You" (39.87%). "The Don
Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory" by Makaveli was the favorite R&B album with 35.52% of
the vote, with "No Way Out" by Puff Daddy and the Family coming in at 22.27%. In all,
816,652 ballots were cast.
