"Hanson Head For Hollywood"
HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Sibling pop trio Hanson, the Oklahoma youngsters who have
emerged as one of the year's most successful new musical acts, are headed for the big
screen. Isaac, Taylor and Zachary Hanson have sold the rights to their life stories to an
independent film producer, who will cast them in a project that is likely to have an offbeat
edge. The producer, Galt Niederhoffer, has hired Morgan J. Freeman to write and direct
the project. The pair collaborated on "Hurricane Streets" (formerly Hurricane), which was
the most decorated film of the 1997 Sundance Film Festival. Hanson have taken the world
by storm with their major-label debut album "Middle of Nowhere" and its first single
"MMMBop". The album has sold more than 1.5 million copies domestically in just 13
weeks of release, and currently stands at #6 on the pop charts. "MMMBop," topped the
charts in the U.S. and many other countries. A follow-up single, "Where's the Love?" has
just been released.
